In spring 2026, the Emco Turn 500, which has been in use for over two decades, will be replaced by a modern turning and milling center from the manufacturer DN-Solutions: the SMX Puma 3100 S. This new machine will significantly increase miromatic‘s manufacturing capabilities. While the old system only had three axes, the new center combines the functions of a milling machine with those of a 5-axis milling machine. This gives us a total of seven machining axes.
This technical upgrade makes it possible to manufacture both complex and conventional components entirely on a single machine. Additional work steps on other systems are therefore largely unnecessary, which simplifies production processes and increases our efficiency at the same time. In addition, the SMX Puma 3100 S has a tool magazine with 80 tool slots, which also significantly reduces setup times. Another advantage is the significantly larger working area: the new turning and milling center can process workpieces with a diameter of up to 660 mm and a length of 1500 mm. By comparison, the Emco Turn 500 reached its limits with parts with a diameter of 460 mm.
Overall, the miromatic investment enables more flexible, precise and economical
production.
